Tech Workers

The African Tech Workers movement was conceptualised in November 2024. It consists of cross sectoral workers in different spaces. Location -based and remote workers who power Africa’s digital economy. They came together to advocate for fair labour practices, accountability of Big Tech as well as a force in building global solidarity with other tech workers.

How many tech workers are there in Kenya? It depends on who you ask. Data from KNBS, in a 2023 report said about 1.2 million people, but the ILO estimated that 1.9 million Kenyans were in digital and digitally enabled work by 2022.
